calle the Pleasure Capital of British India, Mussoorie's fame lies

Place Of Interest
For Sightseeing there is Gun Hill, the second highest peak in Mussoorie.
It is connected by a ropeway trolley starting from The Mall. Fifteen
kilometres away, on the Yamunotri Road, are the biggest and the
prettiest falls in the valley. Bathing in summer can be quite invigorating.
Other places to see are Jahripani Falls, Camel's Back Road, Cloud's
End, Van Chetna Kendra.

of the four places in India upon which the nectar of immortality,
amrit, fell. It had been churned out of the formless ocean and was
being carried in a kumbha pot when it spilled. On the zodiacal anniversary
of this event, a huge religious fair, the Kumbha Mela, is held every
12 years when hundreds and thousands of devotees bathe in the Ganga.

The revered shrine of Gangotri is situated at an altitude of 3200

The temple itself is situated on the right bank of the Bhagirathi,

YAMUNOTRI HILL STATION
The revered shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna is
situated in the shadow of the 6315 mts high Bandarpunch mountain.
It constitutes one of hte four most important pilgrimages, collectively
called Char Dham of the Garhwal Himalayas. Legend has it that a
sage, Asit Muni, used to reside at this secluded spot in ancient
times.
The chief attraction at Yamunotri is the temple devoted to goddess
Yamuna and the holy thermal springs at Jankichatti.

BADRINATH HILL STATION
Situated at an elevation of 3133 mts above sea level, guarded on
either side by the two mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan with the
towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop, stands Badrinath,
one of the most revered Hindu shrines of India.
It was once carpeted with wild berries which gave it the name Badri
Van meaning forest of berries.

By Air : The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun.
By Rail : The nearest railheads are Rishikesh and Kotdwara which
are connected with major cities of North India. The Badrinath temple
normally remains open from the 01st week of May to the 2nd week
of November.

KEDARNATH HILL STATION
One of the twelve jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, Kedarnath is amongst
the premier pilgrimage centres in the country. Situated at an altitude
of 3581 mts above sea level, against the backdrop of the awe inspiring
Kedarnath range, the temple of Sri Kedarnath is visited by hundreds
of devotees every year. At the entrance of the temple is the statue
of Nandi the divine bull of Shiva. Worth visiting here are Bhairav
temple, Samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya, Gandhi Sarovar and Chorabari
Tal.

From Kedarnath one can also visit Ukhimath, the winter home of
Sri Kedarnath, Agastyamuni, Gupta Kashi, Triyuginarayan, Vasuki
Tal, the shrines of Madmaheshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar.

By Air : Jolly Grant away from Kedarnath of which 225km is by road
and the remaining 14km on foot.
By Rail : Rishikesh, the last railhead, is 221km from Kedarnath
of which 207km is by raod and the rest 14km on foot.
