The only hill resort in this state is Saputara, situated at an altitude
of 873 metres above sea level.
Saputara, meaning abode of serpents derives its name from the customary
snake worship of the resident tribals. It is picturesque hill station
best visited between mid March to mid November. It overlooks an
emerald green plateau and has a lovely lake where boating for pleasure
is possible for tourists. There is a Nageshwar Temple Museum, which
is very interesting for tourists.
Saputara is a popular base for excursions to the Mahal Bardipara
Forest Wildlife Santuary and the Gira Waterfalls.

Gir National Park and Sanctuary
Located in the south west of the Saurashtra peninsula, the Gir
National Park is a haven to about 300 Asiatic lions. The 1412.13
sp km. Park has a rugged terrain and the steep rocky hillsides are
covered in mixed diciduous forests.
